Tribe Family Development is a journey of reflection, learning and self-discovery for all members of the family. It is a
needs-based program and has a flexible process. The program includes clear and achievable outcomes. It helps all types of families discover more of how they operate, communicate and relate. It assists families to discover their needs and embrace their identity.
Tribe Family Development is an opportunity for families to critically reflect on their journey, gain greater awareness of personal styles and behaviours, obtain feedback and set clear goals for the future. It assists self-empowerment by providing an understanding of how beliefs, values, thinking, feelings and behaviour impact all family members. The program aims to meet specific outcomes, however the process is collaborative and flexible allowing adjustments to the structure and timelines. The program outline has been developed as a guide and is adapted to suit the needs and requirements of participants. The sessions are facilitated in a gentle and professional manner aimed at bringing families together.
Tribe Family Development consists of 3 three phases (10 sessions). Family members work through the process of reflection on the past, examining the family now and setting and sorting goals. Individual and family sessions are included.
Learning and discoveries are documented, building a picture of the family, the self, relationships and goals. Strategies, tools and resources for planning and change are discussed and used
as appropriate.
To assist in reflection, information gathering and feedback, family members are required to complete activities between each session. These reflective activities will assist in increasing awareness and self-empowerment. The times and tasks between sessions will be adjusted to suit family and individual needs.
Various theoretical models and frameworks for reflection are used. Reflective practice is assisted by the use of a family log, personal journals, session ‘Learning Logs’ and other appropriate tools. Critical Reflection is used and embedded within the process.
